What is the process for evicting a tenant?

The eviction process must follow strict local and state landlord-tenant laws. A landlord must first serve a legally valid eviction notice that specifies the reason and the required move-out date. If the tenant does not leave voluntarily, the landlord must file an eviction case in court and obtain an official order before removing the tenant. Skipping legal steps or attempting a “self-help” eviction can lead to fines or penalties.

For a smooth and lawful process, landlords often work with an Eviction Paralegal to ensure all notices, filings, and procedures comply with regional eviction rules.
